PGR3 - REVIEW - Genre: Classical

Classical

Genre Rating: 1

Total Tracks in Genre: 10
Length: approx. 65 mins.

Modest MussorgskyIn my humble opinion, this is a waste of a genre. These tracks are all excellent, taken out of the context of Project Gotham Racing 3. But totally useless as a background for a racing game. Now if it was possible to listen to these tracks outside of the game environment, like playing them as a CD or something, I would be happy to add them to my music library. But you can't do this with an XBOX 360 disc. The only way you can listen to the tracks on this disc is during game play. And for this, they are absolutely worthless. Believe me.. I tired to race to every one of these tracks and.. they just don't work well at all.

There are only 2 possible scenarios I can think of that you could possibly want to race to these tracks.
  1. You are completely infatuated with the Jean Girard character from the movie Talledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (played outstandingly by Sasha Baron Cohen) and want to pretend you are him.
  2. You are so bored with this game you will try anything to spice it up a bit including trying to race to Classical tracks. If this is the case.. Its time to buy a new game..

In any case I am listing all the tracks in the genre, but decided not to waste my time reviewing each track, since in my opionion they are all equally bad choices for a racing soundtrack. Please.. if you have taken to racing to any of these tracks, its time to buy a new game.

Guide to rating: 1 = Avoid at all costs / 5 = Can't go wrong with this one.

no respect for the classical tracks? I and my roomates thought they were some of the most interesting to race to, and most of us listen to hip-hop and electronic music. granted, we only liked a few of them, but no need to write them off completely

In all fairness to the classical tracks of the game, I have only tried to race to these tracks solo.. So maybe they are better when played during head to head competition with your pals. Or maybe our tastes just differ a bit.. I personally, am partial to Mussorgsky (Rimsky Korsakov's orchastrations of "Pictures at an Exhibition" are especially notable).. But for me it just doesnt do it for me for this game. In any case thanks for the comment!
